We recently shared our thoughts on what Eastern European film fans might be opting to see this summer, but an upcoming event in Prague aims to shed light on the work of largely local filmmakers who are still honing their skills.

Now in its eighth year, Fresh Film Fest – which takes place between August 24-28 at various venues across the city – will be showcasing a selection of debut features and student films and inviting a jury to decide on the most promising entries.

During its five-day run, the festival aims to provide a wide portrait of contemporary world cinema, with around 150 titles being shown in five competitive categories.
