Jeremy Druker is the executive director and editor in chief of Transitions Online, which he co-founded in 1999. Jeremy is the author of the chapters on the Czech Republic in the last three Freedom House Nations in Transit books. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University, where he also earned a certificate in Central and Eastern European studies. He is a member of the board of the Fulbright Commission in the Czech Republic. Barbara Frye is Transitions Online’s managing editor. She has been a journalist for more than 20 years, starting with local papers in her native Baltimore-Washington area in the United States. She has worked as an editor for The Prague Post and other publications in the Czech Republic. Barbara has edited or reported from nine countries and her work has appeared in The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, and many other outlets. She lives in Sheffield, United Kingdom, with her husband, Andy Markowitz, and their cat.
Ky Krauthamer is a senior editor at Transitions Online. He came to TOL in 2002, taking over the editorship of Central Europe Review when that online cultural journal was incorporated into the Transitions site family. His fields of interest include the arts and minority affairs. He previously worked at the English-language Prague Post and as a freelance journalist, travel guide writer, and translator.
Tihomir Loza is deputy director of Transitions Online and writes TOL’s Balkan Eye column. He has worked as a writer and editor for a number of outlets in the Balkans, including the Oslobodjenje daily. He was part of the team of producers behind the BBC series The Death of Yugoslavia and The Fall of Milosevic. Tihomir also worked as an editor with Transitions and WarReport magazines.
S. Adam Cardais is a Transitions Online contributing editor and a journalist and researcher in New York. From 2004 to 2009 he covered more than 20 countries in Europe and Eurasia, with his reporting regularly appearing in The Prague Post, Transitions Online, and BusinessWeek. Adam was a 2009-2010 graduate fellow at New York University’s Center for European and Mediterranean Studies, where he specialized in post-conflict peace-building in the former Yugoslavia.
